a photo from the state cross country championshipCongratulations to the Boys Cross Country Team on capturing the VHSL 6A Boys Championship at the State Cross Country Meet on November 10th. The team distanced itself from West Springfield, defeating its season-long rival by six points en route to the schools first ever Cross Country State Title. On the girls' side, Ann Marie Schaefer finished an impressive 26th for the Cavaliers.

In a season that saw the Boys Team finish runner-up to the West Springfield Spartans at both the Patriot District Championships and the Northern Region Championships (both at Burke Lake Regional Park), the team took advantage of the colder conditions as well as a course that it had run on once during the season, recording 72 points to West Springfield's 78 and Oakton High School's 103. Pacing the way for the boys was senior Jackson Leech who finished 2nd overall with a time of 16:06. Also scoring for the team were senior John Leal (16th overall, 10th in scoring), senior Aslan Abrishami-azar (26th, 18th), senior Tyler French (30th, 20th), and sophomore Robert Johnson (33rd, 22nd). Rounding out the top seven were junior Alejandro Posadas-Nava (45th overall), and senior Ethan Callahan (49th).
