C. G. Woodson High School celebrates a new era with a rededication ceremony honoring Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the "Father of Black History." Students, faculty, and community members gathered to commemorate the name change and reflect on the school's rich history.

Wednesday, April 24, is Administrative Professionals Day. Thank you to all the FCPS employees who support our schools and offices and keep things running smoothly. Alexa Pugnetti, named the 2023 Outstanding School-Based Operational Employee at FCPS Honors, is appreciated across the community of Woodson High School by students, parents, and staff alike.

Congratulations to Ms. Emma Miller on her recognition as the February 2024 FCPS CARES Region 5 Recipient of the Month!

A Black History Month lesson hit close to home for students at W.T. Woodson High School this month. Woodson Principal Kevin Greata met with the school’s Black Student Union about Black History Month, and he discovered that students were interested in learning about historical figures they don’t normally learn about. The most obvious figure to study first was the person the school will be named for beginning next school year. Last fall, the School Board unanimously approved changing the name of the school to Carter G. Woodson High School.

Congratulations to Mr. Paul Osei Akra and Mr. Blair Smith on their recognition as the Summer 2023 FCPS CARES Region 5 Recipients of the Month!

Like mother, like daughter and son - the children of Edison High School's principal are now starting their own career journeys within FCPS.
